NEW Thorens TD 124 Sintered Bronze Idler Wheel Carrier Bushing

We are pleased to introduce the new Audiosilente bushing for the idler wheel carrier of the legendary Thorens TD 124.

The kit includes:

1 Sintered bronze bushing, precision molded to a tolerance of +0.005 mm.

1 Aluminum punch tool for removing the original bushing.

Product Details:

Manufactured from sintered bronze to original specifications

(mold), this new bushing ensures a perfect fit with the idler wheel support pivot pin. The internal bore features an ultra-tight tolerance of only +0.005 mm, a significant improvement over the +0.05/0.08 mm tolerances found in aged original bushings.

A firmly anchored idler wheel support arm is essential for maintaining the correct alignment of the rotation planes between the stepped pulley, idler wheel, and main platter. By eliminating unwanted play in the swinging arm supporting the idler wheel, this upgrade significantly reduces mechanical noise and prevents premature wear of the drive system components by restoring the correct drive geometry.

Installation Recommendations 

Preparation: We strongly advise removing all delicate drive system components (motor and stepped pulley), as well as the idler-wheel support, before proceeding with this operation

Removal: To remove the original bushing, apply heat to the bottom of the chassis (a common hairdryer is sufficient). Using the included aluminum punch and a small hammer, gently tap the old bushing out from underneath the chassis. Please note: if oxidation is present, this process may require patience.

Fitting: The new bushing is designed with a -0.01 mm external diameter tolerance. It must be secured to the chassis using a thread-locking compound. Do not use excessive force, as this avoids the risk of deforming the bushing and affecting the precision of the internal bore.
