E50 motor bushing spring steel retainers

The new Thorens E50 motor bushing retainers are suitable for the Thorens 121, 124, 135, 184, and 224 turntables and are made of spring steel like those of Garrard 301/401.

Why use them? It’s very simple: their spring steel structure and the 6 contact points within the bushing covers allow for constant pressure to be exerted on the bushings. This ensures greater stability of the bushing assembly and therefore consistent motor performance and reliability over time. All this without compromising their alignment capabilities.
The following is supplied for 1 Thorens E50 motor:
- 2 spring steel retainers (1 retainer per bushing)
- 4 new felt pads (1 pair of felt pads for each bearing)
- 4 rivets for securing the bushing covers

This set is suitable for both original and new bushings manufactured by Audiosilente.
They are also ideal for all motors with damaged or lost original retainers.
As shown in the photo, first mount the larger felt pad, then the new spring steel support with the tabs facing upwards, and finally the smaller felt pad.
The smaller felt pad should be placed inside the tabs, as shown in the photo. In this way, the steel tabs will touch the metal cover directly.
The pressure causes the new support to compress and automatically self-center. The felt rings have to be soaked in synthetic oil with a viscosity of 0-15 W

This offer is for a complete rebuild kit for your Thorens E50 motor

(THORENS TD 124 series 1/2 - 135 - TD 121 - TD 224 - TD 184):

2 sintered bronze bushing with oil impregnated 22 % oil

like original + 4 felt rings + 6 mini rivets ) so they are ready to use.

Audiosilente is proud to announce we are now producing true,

sintered (heated and pressed from metallic powder)

bronze bushings, using the same process Thorens used in the 1960’s!

Using heat and pressure to fuse metallic powder into a precision

part is not the cheapest way, but it is the best way.

Thorens made true sintered bushings, so

why do other companies only offer bored bushings?

Because they are cheaper to make!

Remember, “sintered” means heat pressed from powder.

AudioSilente has spared no expense

to bring you the finest bushings on the market today.

We have worked with metallurgists to reproduce

the original bronze alloy mix and with other

Thorens restoration experts to confirm the original

 Thorens parts measurements.

We have secured the services of one of the finest companies,

experts in creating true sintered bronze parts,

to make our molds and the parts you see here.

Our process produces a part with BETTER tolerance than the Thorens original.

Custom produced in Germany, our bushings are checked every

100 units to confirm tolerance within 0.004 millimeters!

No other process produces a part with the same porosity,

the ability to hold as much oil as the Thorens original (22%).

Porosity is only part of what assures proper lubrication.

The capillary system of the bushing

must be perfect through-and-through to assure maximum,

even flow of oil from the felt washers,

through the bushing and finally to the motor rotor.

The full running surface of the rotor MUST have an uninterrupted oil film.

This is key to achieving optimal performance, low friction

and lower operating temperature. There is ZERO chance of a

production drill smearing the inside of our bushings and closing the oil pores because

NO DRILLS are used in creating AudioSilente bushings!

There is ZERO chance of drill bit marks marring the running

surface of the bushing either - again - NO DRILLS!

Your E50 rebuild kit also includes four felt washers,

one PVC thrust pad and six rivets that replace the original Thorens rivets.

AudioSilente’s kit includes these rivets instead

of screws because rivets work better in this application,

due to the motor’s significant thermal expansion.
